We provide everything you need for a fun, successful day on the water. High quality Shimano reels paired with Bull Bay rods are a staple aboard our charters to provide you with the best odds at landing a trophy fish. Plenty of live bait, fishing licenses, tackle, and coolers full of ice and water are all included in our pricing, and more.

Inshore Sportfishing in Tampa Bay Florida

Snook are a popular sportfish in Tampa Bay and can be found in many areas of the bay, from estuaries to flats. Snook are most active during the warmer months between May and September.

Redfish are a popular sportfish in Tampa Bay and can be caught year-round. They are bronze or copper in color and are known for their tailing feeding style.

Season: High Season is March to April and September to September to November, while low season is January to February, May to August and December.

Speckled Trout fishing in Tampa Bay is popular year-round and can be done in many areas including the flats, mangroves, canals, and oyster bars. Winter and spring: Cooler waters conditions are ideal for targeting trout on sunbaked flats. 

Mangrove Snapper is a popular fish to catch in Tampa Bay because of its feisty and aggressive nature and great taste. Snapper can be found stacked up and down fishing channels, ledges and wrecks in the deep waters of the bay. Snapper can be found year-round, but larger fish are more likely in the fall.

Tripletail also known as black grunt, are one of the best tasing fish and gets its name from its elongated dorsal and anal finds which are almost as long as the tail fin, making appear to have three tails. The best months for Tripletail fishing are late spring through early fall, with peak activity occurring May to September.

Flounder can be found in Tampa Bay throughout the year, but are most plentiful in the fall and early winter.  They are 1 to 5 pounds on average and can be found nearshore and flats.

Tarpon is also know as the "Silver King" because they are considered the greatest of saltwater game fish due to their size and their fighting sprit when hooked.  Best sized in the Summer months with peak season in May and June. 

Fishing Charter Frequently Asked Questions 

What's included in the cost of a charter?

Your fare includes fishing license, rods and reels, live bait, tackle, ice, water, gas and fish cleaning.  We will also post digital photos of your charter if you like.

What do I need to bring for my trip?

Sunblock, hat, sunglasses and light colored clothes are suggested for summer months. Warmer clothes on winter months. You can bring any food and soft drinks or adult beverages (please drink responsibly). White soled shoes or deck shoes, no black soled shoes please. 

Do I need a fishing license to fish with Tail Biter Fishing Charters? 

No. All passengers are covered under our recreational charter boat license.

Can I bring my own rods/reels and tackle?

You can if you want, although it's not necessary. We proved everything you need to have an amazing fishing adventure. 

Can I bring a cooler on board?

We provide onboard coolers that will accommodate all your needs. We suggest you bring a cooler in your vehicle to cary your fillets home. We will ice your cooler for you.

When do we leave?

Departure times are flexible based on the type of trip you are booking. Your Captain will assist you in deciding your departure time and location while you are planning your trip. 

Can we keep what we catch?

Yes you can keep your catch, although you must stay within legal size and bag limits on all species of which such limits apply.

What type of payments do you accept?

We accept Cash App, Venmo and Zelle. Cash is always appreciated. 

What is your cancellation policy?

We require a deposit of $250 upon booking. A 3 day notice is required for cancelations to recover your deposit. Any same day cancellation will result in a forfeit of your deposit.

Pick up locations

Our home port is Port 32 located at 5200 W Tyson Ave., Tampa Florida 33616, but we use multiple boat ramps & locations in and around the Tampa Bay area if needed depending on what type of charter you are taking.  Captain Sam will always communicate & arrange a meeting point and time before your scheduled date.

Deposit & cancellations

We require a deposit of $250 upon booking. A 3 day notice is required for cancellations to recover your deposit. Any same day cancellation will result in a forfeit of your deposit. A fishing charter can be cancelled by the captain for safety reasons, weather conditions, or maintenance reasons.
